Last night in Los Angeles at Nokia Theatre Live the World Premiere of IMMORTALS! Hollywood stars shined bright for visionary director Tarsem Singh (The Cell, Mirror, Mirror) as he transported us back to a time before cell phones, and woman's rights. With about a dozen HD video screens at the Nokia Center, all blasted clips from the upcoming film, as stars were herded from their limos, passing by 20ft tall fire torches and greeted by beefy, menacing Roman Centurions, or was it ancient Greek soldiers, or some other such gladiators. For an hour or so, LA LIVE was transported back to Roman time (well, the glossy 3D version)
Nonetheless, An epic tale of treachery, vengeance and destiny, as a power-hungry king demolishes ancient Greece in search of a legendary weapon, a heroic young villager rises up against him in an exhilarating quest as timeless as it is a powerful endeavor. The brutal, blood hungry King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) and his slaying Heraklion army rampage across Greece in search of the long lost Bow of Epirus. With the Bow, the King will be able to overthrow the Gods of Olympus and become the undisputed master of the world. With ruthless efficiency, Hyperion and his legions destroy everything in their path, and it seems nothing will stop the evil king’s mission.
With village after village obliterated, a stonemason named Theseus (Henry Cavill) vows to avenge his mother's death after one of Hyperion’s brutal raids. When Theseus meets the Sybelline Oracle, Phaedra (Freida Pinto), her disturbing visions of Theseus future convinces her that he is the key to stopping the King. With her help, Theseus rallies a small, loyal band of followers and embraces his destiny in a final, desperate battle for the future of all humanity.
Immortals is produced by Gianni Nunnari (300), Mark Canton (300) and Ryan Kavanaugh (The Fighter).
Opening in theaters November 11! -If anything, be sure to check it out for all the hunky 3D eye candy. :)
